NATO " Tiger Meet " Schleswig-Jagel AB - 2014
The 2014 NATO Tiger Meet edition took place from 16th to 26th of June at German Air Force base of Schleswig-Jagel, situated in the northern Germany, home of the TakLwG (Tactical Air Force Wing) 51. This edition marked the first full participation of the TaktLwG 71 from Neuburg with EF2000 Typhoon and it was the second time that Schleswig-Jagel hosted the Tiger Meet exercise, after the first one in 2004. NATO Tiger Meet is an exercise between units sporting a badge of a tiger or a big cat family. The 2014 edition involved about seventy aircraft from eleven different nations, proving one more time, if there was need, that NATO Tiger Meet can be considered one of the biggest air exercise in Europe. Batch of 40-60 a/c usually carry out two sorties each day, one in the morning and a second one in the afternoon. From Schleswig-Jagel a/c had flown Composite Air Operation (COMAU) over extensive reserved area in the North Sea, monitored and coordinated by 1° AEW&CS E-3As taken off from Forward Operating Base of Ørland, in Norway. In addition operational aspects, in the NATO Tiger Association there is a well-established tradition over the years, which consist in conferring awards to those teams that best testify the belonging to this unique Association.
